THRIVE’S Women’s Youth Mentoring
(Pilot programme)
Women mentoring women in Kenya
Why be a Thrive woman youth mentor in kenya?
As highlighted across their world, Women Need a Network of Champions to achieve their goals and to realise their dreams, and to ultimately thrive in their lives!
Thrive’s Women’s Youth Mentoring Scheme aims to connect highly motivated and inspirational Kenyan women professional volunteers to marginalised young women as active and creative Women Mentors in Kenya.
vision: a network of women change makers in kenya
In coordination with local partners, Thrive’s Women’s Youth Mentoring Scheme intends to create a network of Thrive Women Mentors across Kenya that can support marginalised young women ‘mentees’, specifically in terms of their wellbeing and career development, and may collectively act as change makers in their communities.
Thrive aims to train and build the skills of passionate Kenyan women professionals that are keen to be Thrive Women Youth Mentors and support less privileged young women mentees in their communities and beyond.
Mentor workshop and training programme
The Thrive mentor training programme is envisaged to be a maximum of 3 days, and will draw on collective thinking to co-identify key barriers that young low-income and refugee women typically face in their work and professional lives in Kenya. A framework of support will then be collaboratively developed to practically support ‘mentors’ in working with ‘mentees’, fostering (marginalised) young women’s wellbeing, life creativity and career development.
THRIVE outreach in lamu county in 2025
Building on current THRIVE Gender and Leadership support in Lamu county, THRIVE aims to establish a regional mentoring scheme for marginalized young women. With relevant sponsorship, THRIVE is keen to pilot a 1 year mentoring programme in 2025-2026 for 200 marginalised women youth (18-30 years old) in Lamu in partnership with local women civil society leaders. This programme aims to train/coach women mentors, and support local women as mentees.
